Jonathan Crow has been Concertmaster of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra since 2011. A native of Prince George, British Columbia, he earned his Bachelor of Music in Honours Performance from McGill University in 1998, joining the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal the same year. By 2002, he became the youngest concertmaster of any major North American orchestra, a role he held until 2006.

Jonathan has since appeared as guest concertmaster with leading orchestras worldwide and as a soloist with every major Canadian orchestra, performing under conductors including Charles Dutoit, Sir Yehudi Menuhin, and Kent Nagano. Alongside his orchestral work, he is an acclaimed chamber musician, Artistic Director of Toronto Summer Music, and a founding member of the JUNO Award–winning New Orford String Quartet. His dedication to contemporary music has led to numerous Canadian and international premieres.

Jonathan and T from The Promise share a personal history, having first played together in The Blenheim Street Quintet in 1994. Decades later, he returned to collaborate with T on The Promise’s 2020 album Lost In Love No More (AIDS 2020 virtual presentation).
