The Promise | A Socially and Musically Groundbreaking Band in Toronto

The Promise: The Sound of Dreamer

The Promise is the powerful, real-world rock band behind the cinematic ‘Dreamer’ rock musical series. We are a Toronto-based group of musicians creating a genuine fan base through our original music and our mission to drive social change.

Unlike stage bands or fictional groups, we are an original rock band with a real story and a powerful purpose, produced under the visionary guidance of Southern Time Productions.

Our Story: The Dreamer Series

‘Dreamer’ is a groundbreaking musical drama that tells a raw, true-to-life story. It narrates one man’s journey of acquiring HIV, living with the virus, and the profound social and spiritual insights gained from the experience.

Our music provides the emotional heartbeat and powerful soundtrack to this important narrative.

Our Mission: More Than Music

Our purpose extends far beyond the stage. We are built on three core pillars:

1. End AIDS by 2030(s)

We are dedicated to helping achieve UNAIDS’ 2030 goal to end AIDS. A significant portion of all our proceeds is donated to the Southern Time Foundation to support this critical mission.

2. Eradicate HIV Stigma

We fight stigma through visibility. Two of our band members are openly and proudly HIV-positive. By being visible “rock stars” who are healthy, productive, and creative, we challenge outdated stereotypes and show that living with HIV is just one part of a full life.

3. Create Timeless Music

We are committed to creating unique, profound, and lasting popular music. We believe music is a universal language for change, capable of building bridges and fostering a world of greater understanding and peace. Our sound is designed to not only entertain but to awaken and inspire.

Join Us in Making a Difference

Supported by Southern Time Productions, one of Toronto’s most innovative social impact entertainment companies, we are using the power of music and film to make the world a better place for all. Our message is one of love, acceptance, and collective action.

THE END OF HIV STIGMA

Production companies in Toronto

The title of The Promise’s first album, ‘Lost in Love No More,’ reflects the hopeful new reality for people living with HIV today. With access to effective treatment, individuals can now manage HIV and live long, healthy, and fulfilling lives.

Scientific breakthroughs like “U=U” (Undetectable = Untransmittable) prove that people with an undetectable viral load cannot transmit HIV sexually. This means they can have relationships, build families, and live without restriction, just like anyone else.

Yet, nearly one million people still die from AIDS-related illnesses every year. HIV stigma remains a lethal barrier to testing, treatment, and support.

The Southern Time Foundation—which will receive a portion of our proceeds—will work to identify global regions where HIV and AIDS rates are high. It will then collaborate directly with local HIV-positive communities to develop and fund innovative, grassroots solutions to reduce stigma and lower infection rates.

A Lot More to Come

The music on our first album is primarily composed from T’s classically-trained, Classic Rock perspective. Our current sound has been described as ‘Psychedelic Jazzy-Classical Musical-Theateresque Art-Rock.’

With over thirty songs already written for the ‘Dreamer’ series, this is only the beginning. Future music will incorporate the talents of our other band members, exceptional guest musicians, and genres from around the world—especially the Global South, in keeping with our “Southern Time” namesake.

Pre-production on the first season of ‘Dreamer’ will begin as soon as Southern Time Productions is funded. Our second album—serving as the series’ overture—is scheduled for release one year before ‘Dreamer, Season One’ premieres.

We hope you enjoy ‘Lost in Love No More’ and look forward to sharing our next album and live performances with you soon!

The Promise is produced under the label and management of Southern Time Productions, an innovative Toronto-based music, film, and social impact company.
