Our Origin: The Birth of a Movement
Our story began in 2005 with the founding of Southern Time Productions. Our first multimedia rock musical, Southern Time, debuted at Vancouver’s Wise Hall—a fusion of music, visuals, and narrative that laid the foundation for everything to come.
From that energetic beginning, The Promise was born.
Today, we are the musical heartbeat of Southern Time Productions, an emerging Toronto-based creator of music, film, and social impact content.
Our Mission: Music with a Purpose
We believe in the power of art to drive change. Our mission is focused and clear:
- Ending HIV/AIDS: We use our music and global stage to raise awareness, combat stigma, and support the path to healing. A portion of all our proceeds is donated to the Southern Time Foundation, which is dedicated to helping achieve the UNAIDS goal of ending AIDS by 2030.
- Advocating for Change: We have performed at nearly every International AIDS Conference since 2010, bringing our message of hope and justice to a global audience.
- Building a Community: We are building a worldwide community of activists and dreamers. As funding allows, we will launch performances across the globe—both online and in-person—to amplify our message and inspire tangible action.

Our Message
At our core, The Promise believes in the power of music to unite people across differences and borders. Through personal storytelling and high-impact rock performances, Justin and T — both living with HIV — share raw truths and uplifting visions of what’s possible when we remove shame and embrace love.
